Student Loan Case Study #2

I had the pleasure of advising on an interesting student loan case recently and wanted to share it with everyone as a case study.

Jane (not her real name) is a pediatrician who works for a children’s hospital group. She makes about $180,000 a year and (like many borrowers) is hoping to qualify for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).

Jane has a couple of concerns. First, she wants to make sure that she’s making all the right moves to qualify for PSLF. And second, she’s in a pretty seriously relationship and is expecting a proposal sometime this year.

The problem is her husband makes significantly more than her and she doesn’t want that to mess up her ability to benefit from PSLF.

Here’s the case study. Let me know in the comments below if you like seeing more case studies like this.
