Tom Martin is the Founder & President of Clear Path Financial Planning, a modern financial planning firm nestled in Cheshire, Connecticut. His life’s mission is to help busy professionals find a work-life balance that also fuels their dreams.

As President of Clear Path Financial Planning, an independent practice offering securities through TD Ameritrade Institutional, Inc., Tom believes that successful wealth management is about creating fluid life financial plans, not emergency retirement plans. It’s about finding ways for his clients to enjoy life today, while still satisfying their ambitions, health, and goals for the future.

Tom Martin has become a well-known financial expert and a go-to resource for national media outlets for discussions around college, student debt, and millennial money.  He has redefined what retirement should look like for millennials —that, as a society, we need to stop associating “retirement” with hospital stays, medical bills, and the inability to enjoy a life of leisure. Tom has been featured on The Street, Business.com, Guidevine, Discover, and more. He’s also a thought-provoking speaker and host and enjoys spreading his knowledge about getting a better return on life, finance, entrepreneurship, and investing wisely.

Tom Martin grew up in North Haven, Connecticut. He has a long family history of military service that can be traced back to the American Civil War (1861-1865). Both his father and grandfather served in the U.S. Air Force, with his grandfather being a pilot in World War II. Tom also carried the torch, having served in the U.S. Navy and fought in two foreign wars onboard the U.S.S Leyte Gulf (CG-55), a Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser. He was the youngest enlisted to earn a Surface Warfare Specialist (SWS) designation. Today, he resides in Cheshire, Connecticut with his wife and two boys. When he’s not working, he enjoys his time reading and writing about business, finance, and psychology. But nothing gives Tom more joy than the intimate company of close friends and sharing in some laughter.

Tom Martin’s philosophy has been influence by many great leaders of our time, most notably the former First Lady, Barbara Bush. Bush stressed the importance of family and cherishing connections with other people, and so does Tom.

“At the end of your life, you will never regret not having passed one more test, winning one more verdict, or not closing one more deal,” she said. “You will regret time not spent with a husband, a child, a friend or a parent.”

Tom Martin teaches us that while being fiscally responsible is important, no amount of money can substitute for the value of time and experiences spent with loved ones. When we are gone from this world, nobody is going to be talking about our money or accomplishments. They’ll be talking about the memories we have left with them. Let’s make sure we give them a good story to talk about.
